While the newspapers, radio and tv stations go on, and on, and on about the financial crisis, I went out and bought something: a pocket calculator. Why?

Although every computer comes with a calculator program, and is essentially a very large calculator, it is often very handy to have laying besides the computer. That way, each time I see something that interests me and I want to check on pricing, import taxes and sales tax, it’s done quickly.

The last couple of weeks, the dutch media reported constantly on the financial crisis. But fortunately, the current position of small business owners and freelance workers was discussed. And the outcome? Freelance workers, one man companies and small business are hardly affected by the current financial crisis. How come?

A little secret behind company registrations. Existing companies can buy lists of addresses of newly founded companies. So even if you are a fresh startup, working from your laptop in the kitchen, your contact details including domain name will be seen by people. So you want to make sure that domain name shows a running website, not a “parked page” from your domain provider. So, make sure you set something up.
